Black Creatures
The large black bat and the huge black figure were unusual foes. Magic used against them had a tendancy to splutter out and heal rather than harm. Worse their blows drained spells and even the magic from armour and weapons. But they were only two and enough magic pierced their defences for the bat to succumb after just a few diving attacks, turning into a cloud of black dust as it died. The humanoid figure was rather tougher and took quite a beating before it too crumbled (much of the beating delivered by an invisible flying Kat smacking Quin repeated into its head like a pro baseball batswoman!).
No sooner had the fight ended than the metal dome on the top of the spire ignited into a blinding ray of energy directed at the rising sun. By then you could see four of the black figures already around the dome, basking in energy which arced out of it into them, while many more huge figures could be seen walking towards the dome.
After much experimentation it was determined that the energy would arc to the Amanatar too if you were invisible and about 10-15 feet away from the dome. At 5 feet it seemed to suck all the little arcs in (the main ray never faltered) and charged much faster, but this caused instant violence amongst the huge black figures so that was abandoned. With some agile dodging out of the way of the milling figures (and keeping away from the main ray which was seen to instantly obliterate one black figure that was pushed into it during some shoving) the Amanatar was finally charged without having to fight any further creatues - just as well as there were more than a dozen around (and numerous divebombing bats feeding off arcs) by then.
Via a mixture of teleportation and flying you returned to the surface world and Solvaness. Tiresselle was fascinated by the Amanatar, he had never seen one although he had heard much. Tom talked to Tiresselle about improving his control over crystals, which resulted in Tom trying to learn more from the mysterious figment of a spirit which hung around him (the more gentle spirit, potentially of Imra Sorin, Grand Master of the Raithian Council, as opposed to the angrier spirit which Tiresselle believed to be a figment of Dakaris Fedaro, the perpetrator of the Great Sorrow).
Jade Unicorn Grotto
The rest of you (or most of you? can't quite remember who) went to Marata in search of the merchant Juparni. Baldy told you they had sold the armour which matched the dragon sword and shield to Juparni. He was easy enough to track down, Juparni runs a large magic store called the Jade Unicorn Grotto. Along with two human guards there are two 8ft tall bronze statues (likely golems) guarding either side of entrance and a 6ft tall gold dragon statue with jade crest and emerald eyes in the centre of the shop.
An assistant helps you as you browse the armour. The matching armour is easy to find as it has the same purple rearing dragon and dark blue cross inlaid into opposite shoulders. It looks quite impressive, is +3 Full Plate, gives protection from Dragon Fear and costs 18,000 gold. Noting that Alia is priestess of Darius the assistant says that they belief it could even be the armour of Taros Halfhand, the legendary leader of the Blades of Darius. Meanwhile Juparni notices Kat's lightning bow and makes an offer of 10,000 gold for it. As Kat is tempted by the small longbow taken from Baldy she is tempted and while the armour is being investigated she sells it to Juparni for 11,000 gold.
At that point Juparni comments about the club Kat carries (Quin) and the armour Titus wears. It is apparent that he has recognised the items from the gnomes and realises that you have come from there. He deduces that you might already have the sword and shield which match the dragon armour so the price instantly rises to 30,000 gold. He says the items are more powerful together and it is still a bargain. Not content with this he also comments to Kat that he has some gloves which he believes go perfectly with the lightning bow that he has just bought from her... she can buy back the lightning bow AND the gloves he has for 35,000 if she wants (I said 30,000 at the time, that was wrong, 35,000 is what it should have been).
Kat is annoyed and voices her displeasure. We don't know what Alia is because Alia wasn't there! So the session was paused at that point.
NOTE: I have slightly rearranged the order of events to make the conversation about the armour and the selling of the bow happen at the same time and therefore have both threads reach their conclusion at the end of the session (just to avoid any comments of "But, I would have said something earlier", etc). Play on from there!
Further Points
You were very close to level 17, in fact, you might as well just go and level up! So level 17 everyone (sorry I didn't mention that earlier).
What spells does Tom want to buy? I have emailed that question to Chris.
Any further purchases desired? You seem to be making progress in your quest so there might not be that many more chances to go shopping...
