Games Workshop
I first started collecting Games Workshop miniatures about 15 years ago. I was given the Hero Quest game as a present, and started painting the miniatures that came with that.
Eventually I found some Games Workshop minis at a local store, and managed to buy some of those. Interestingly enough, the figures that caught my eye were Eldar Swooping Hawks, which to this day remain one of my favourite units, in my favourite 40k race.
Warhammer
These are miniatures from the Warhammer fantasy tabletop game. I have a number of these minis, though I don't play the game myself.
The main reason I purchase the Warhammer miniatures is for use in D&D games. There are a number of minis in the Warhammer and Warhammer 40k collections that fit remarkably well into our tabletop RPG sessions.
Warhammer 40,000
Here I have a collection of 28mm miniatures from the Warhammer 40k tabletop game.
I have enough of the Eldar army to play games, and do occasionally do so. However, my main aim in this collection is simply the painting of the minis.
My current collection focuses around the Eldar army, but I also have a number of Space Marines and Dark Eldar.
I am interested in painting some of the Tau army, but time and finances mean that's probably not too likely in the near future.
